Wooden Play Equipment and Safety Surfacing

Greenlands Community Primary School in Preston, Lancashire is a mainstream state school for children aged between five and eleven years old.

Other than some existing thermoplastic playground markings, the schools outdoor play area was completely bare with no play equipment for the children to enjoy.

Handmade Timber Play Equipment

We sourced and installed wooden play equipment that included two fantastic timber trails, creating a fun and physical element to the existing play area. The school then wanted to create a multi-use games area so we installed green wetpour safety surfacing with inlaid centre line, centre circle and 2 goal defence circles. We then installed two timber ball walls, complete with cricket wicket and finally we supplied and installed a basketball net to finish off the area. Once this area was complete, our skilled joiners set to work on building a bespoke timber gazebo.

The new wooden play equipment at Greenlands Primary School is not only ideal for playtime but also for P:E lessons and encouraging health and fitness. The trim trails and the multi use games area with safety surfacing will encourage the children to have fun and enjoy their playtime whilst exercising in a safe and comfortable environment. Supporting the children’s physical development, the new equipment will help to develop their control and co ordination skills and teach them new sports. The new gazebo will provide a sheltered area for the children and will also offer the opportunity for outdoor learning.
