Play Area Installation and Playground Redesign

Fisherfield Nursery is based in Middleton and prides itself on providing a high quality of childcare and early year’s education. Fisherfield came to Let’s Play with the intention of completely transforming their out-dated play area.

Colourful playground and artificial grass, Manchester.

Colourful Play Area Design

When Fisherfield got in contact with our team we jumped at the opportunity to design their new play area and our designers got straight to work planning the best possible way to revitalise the area. We wanted to segregate the area into two sections, one area for toddlers and an area to cater to the needs of the older children. Both of the areas needed to be colourful to make the yard really stand out.

Toddlers’ Area- Our team started off by completely resurfacing the area, taking up the old cracking tarmac, smoothing and levelling out the area then implementing multiple sensory play units such as mirrors, play arches and mounds. Once the area had been smoothened out the equipment went in, followed by artificial grass and a low level log screen fence so that the area was segregated from the older children’s area and so that the staff can keep an eye on the toddlers.

Thermoplastic Playground Markings

Children’s Area- The First order of business was to resurface the whole area with anti-slip tarmac, get a base layer down for the Wetpour area around the Multi Use Play Mound, which consists of a large artificial grass mound with nets at each end of the unit, two slides at each side at the top of the embankment and two tunnels running through the piece of kit. The intention of the mound was to create an area that will harvest the pupils imagination meaning the area will keep them entertained for years to come. Once the play mound was finished the thermoplastic roadway was installed around the play unit and the Wetpour was finished off with a bright orange colour to really make the area pop out, our installation team fitted the rest of the thermoplastic games alongside the roadway, these games consisted of an alphabet snake and hopscotch.

Sensory and Educational Playground Installation

Next, we installed the sensory play sandpit and all the fencing was installed around the area along with tall log screen fencing that was installed along the entrance of the yard to maintain the privacy the yard while the pupils enjoy their play times in their brand new play area. Finally, Resin Bonded Mulch was installed next to the segregating fencing running up to the wall, where a water wall play unit was installed, at the other end of this mulch a small artificial grass area was laid to add even more areas for the children to enjoy followed by another mulch area.

Fisherfield was an amazing project that saw an exquisite transformation and the final product was as good as we expected, meeting all the objectives we intended to achieve, Fisherfield said they couldn’t be happier with the outcome. More importantly the pupils love their new play area and we here at Let’s Play are happy to know that the area will keep many children entertained for years to come.
