Wooden play equipment and Safety Surfacing

Creche n Co is a chain of nurseries. One of their sites is situated within the newly refurbished Hopwood Hall College in Rochdale.

Their existing outdoor area was completely bare and in need of some safety surfacing and play equipment to create a fantastic versatile space with lots for the children to see and do during playtime.

Handmade Timber Play Equipment

The centre requested that we split the areas up into specific age groups, under twos and over twos. Both areas were divided off with our stunning hand crafted log screen fencing. In the under two’s area, we installed our hand-crafted toad stool seating along with our giant story telling chair.

We created a textured pathway featuring several different types of safety surfacing including coloured wetpour, stepping stones, resin bonded gravel, marbles, artificial grass, cobbles and bonded rubber mulch. We also created a natural planting area with bamboo and herbs and installed our handcrafted timber structures, which included a gazebo and several seating areas. Finally, we supplied and installed a bespoke wigwam den, mirror panels and giant chalk boards.

Outdoor Story Telling

In the under twos area we focused on the importance of natural and sensory play. The textured pathway and the natural planting areas will help the children to learn about the natural world and environment, encouraging them to interact with nature and helping them to learn through all the different senses.

The mirror panels and giant chalk boards will help to stimulate the children’s imagination and encourage their creative development through allowing them to express their thoughts and ideas through art and design. The story telling area with bespoke hand crafted giant story telling chair and toad stool seating will help to encourage the children to express themselves creatively during story time, building their confidence and developing friendships. The children will gain the maximum benefit out of this new play area, having a blast whilst learning at the same time.
